Help needed

I have a problem.  Izzy’s Grandma sent a box of lovely new girl’s clothes, including a gorgeous little one piece swim suit.  It has Elsa, from Frozen on the front and a little frill around the waist.  It’s everything Izzy wants in a bathing suit.

But I have a problem.  I don’t know how to say this other than just as it is…when she’s in that swim suit, just as proud as can be, it’s obvious she’s not your average girl. You can see she has boys bits too.

I cannot now say to her, no you can’t wear that swimsuit (she has a lesson once a week).  I will not say to her you need to hide the fact you have a penis.  But equally, I think it would be remiss of me to do nothing.  People will stare, even the best of us would have to make an effort to show no surprise.  The worst will pull faces, laugh, make unkind comments.  I can’t let shame creep into her life at four.

I’m proud of my daughter’s courage to be the girl she identifies as.  I don’t want her to hide anything.  I’m not at all embarrassed by her.  But, she’s only four and she has a tough road ahead, it doesn’t need to start now.

And this is where the requestE for help comes in – is there someone reading this, who lives locally, and is a whizz on the sewing machine?  Or knows a whizz?  If I bought some Lycra is there anyone who could stitch it on and make it look like it was always there?

If you can help please let me know.

UPDATE: Elsa is now in the hands of a bonefide whizz!  A mum from school I’d never met before.  Honestly, I just can’t find the words to say how truely kind and generous people are.
