Q2. It wasn’t clear from the emails how many consultations with the doctors there had been. Are you willing to share how many sessions there were to help clear up this point so we can understand the facts and not get the wrong impression? Also not sure why you felt the need to hide the identities of the doctors?
A2. The decision followed two consultations and the next appointment is in just over a week. But of course ☆Izzy has been living as a girl for some time now (my other email explains the timeline for this). The therapy we receive also provides counselling in how to support her. It is not a disputed fact that over 40% of unsupported transgender youth attempt suicide. The Youth Suicide Prevention Program in Washington State writes that “more than 50% of transgender youth will have had at least one suicide attempt by their 20th birthday.’ This figure is based on US national statistics.
I chose not to name the doctors because their professional relationships are with vulnerable children/youth.
